The largest retrospective of Fred Tomaselli’s work to date, the exhibition shows the trajectory of his career from his early experiments with sculpture and installation to recent paintings and prints that combine abstraction with allusions to current events. Tomaselli’s overflowing paintings include unusual materials, such as pills, plants and images cut from books and magazines, all under layers of clear epoxy resin. The book explores the artist’s touchstones, the intellectual basis for his visual decisions, and the development of his life as an artist.
Fred Tomaselli won first prize in exhibition catalogs in the 2010 American Alliance of Museums annual Publication Design Competition.
