Complicated and troubling intersections of race, sex, and power are exposed in a survey that featured drawings, cut paper silhouettes and new multi-media works that conflate Civil War-era slave narratives and contemporary realities. Organized in collaboration with and traveled to Williams College Museum of Art, Williamstown, Massachusetts and supported by National Endowment for the Arts.
Kara Walker: Narratives of a Negress won second prize in exhibition catalogs in the 2003 American Alliance of Museums annual Publication Design Competition.
