A field of bronze, concrete, clay and wax sculptures marks this first solo museum exhibition for Sao Paulo-based artist Erika Verzutti (b. 1971). Verzutti’s works often combine dissimilar elements, such as references to common, everyday objects like fruits, vegetables, and eggs, with ceremonial forms, such as totems, tablets, and gravestones. Imbued with a sense of mysterious ritual, Verzutti’s works often pay special attention to forms and cycles found in nature.
The installation builds on works made for the artist’s presentation at the 2013 Carnegie International.
