Kevin Wolff

By creating his source of inspiration, and then reproducing that object, Kevin Wolffe’s system of painting is an efficient and decisive technique of manipulating reality. In this exhibition, he began his process by constructing three-dimensional structures and photographing them. Using those photographs, the artist painted his resulting pieces in acrylic.
With largely abstract and conceptual subject matter, Wolffe exaggerated the sharp and figurative quality of photography. Even as his painting technique tangibly captures any artist’s thought process, these disorienting creations further evoked viewer contemplation. The discord between the real and abstract was the ultimate muse.
