Join Heather Hurst for a tour of the installation 7000 Fragments: Maya Murals from San Bartolo, Guatemala. Hurst, an Associate Professor and Chair of Anthropology at Skidmore College and a Skidmore Scholar in Residence, is an artist who has been working with the San Bartolo murals (c. 100 BCE) since 2001.
These artworks are among the most important Maya artifacts ever found, altering what we know about Maya theology and religious ceremonies, as well as Maya kings, artists, and scribes. Hurst will guide visitors through this reproduction of the San Bartolo site.
The Skidmore Faculty Scholar-in-Residence project is supported by the Office of the Dean of Special Programs; The Center for Leadership, Teaching, and Learning; the Tang Teaching Museum; and the Dean of the Faculty/Vice President for Academic Affairs office.
