Liquid Sky Screening

Publicity image from Liquid Sky, 1982

Hailed by New York Magazine as “The funniest, craziest, most perversely beautiful science-fiction movie ever made!,” Liquid Sky is a gender-bending, cult classic that involves a healthy dose of drugs, sex, and aliens. Set in the New Wave subculture of downtown New York City, the film takes us on the wild journey of rival models Margaret (a Warholian beauty) and Jimmy (a mustachioed lout), both performed by actress Anne Carlisle. Liquid Sky was a major inspiration for artist Liz Collins. Liz Collins —Energy Field, on view on the Tang’s Mezzanine, closes this weekend, and this special outdoor screening is part of our two-day closing celebration.

The two-day closing celebration of Liz Collins — Energy Field includes a [knitting party(/calendar/694-energy-field-knitting-and-weaving-party), this screening of the cult classic Liquid Sky, a conversation with Liz Collins and writer Jennifer Kabat, a witch storytelling hour, and a New Wave dance party!
