Family Saturday: Signed Sculptures!

Christine Sun Kim, Rest 2, 2022, Charcoal on paper, 52 1/8 x 52 1/8 inches, courtesy of the artist and François Ghebaly Gallery

Join us Saturday, March 4, at 2 pm, for Family Saturday: Signed Sculptures! After viewing works by Christine Sun Kim, whose art engages with different modes of visual communication, participants will use construction-paper cutouts of their own hands to create American Sign Language (ASL) inspired sculptures.

Read more about the exhibition Christine Sun Kim: Oh Me Oh My, in which the artist, whose first language is ASL, challenges the notion that sound is a solely auditory experience.

Family Saturday programs foster multigenerational creative cooperation through looking at artwork, discussing it, and engaging in a hands-on art-making activity. Programs run from 2-3:30 pm and include a tour of selected works. All programs are free and open to the public, and suitable for children age 5 and older, accompanied by their adult companions. No registration required; supplies provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
