After watching William Kentridge’s animation in the exhibition Beauty and Bite, we will discuss the idea of time and how Kentridge uses text, imagery and motion in his piece. We will then create our own moving drawings in the form of either a flip book or layers of clear acetate as the building block of making a hand-made animation!
This Family Saturday is more focused towards kids ages 10 and older. However, children ages 5-9 are welcome to participate!
Our Tween-focused Family Saturdays include looking at and discussing artwork where artists confront complex issues such as race, gender, class, identity and bias. If you have any questions regarding the content of specific exhibitions, please ask us. We invite you to preview the exhibitions as well!
Family Saturdays foster multigenerational creative collaboration through looking at artwork in our galleries, discussing and sharing ideas, and engaging in a hands-on art activity inspired by those conversations.
All programs are free and open to the public. Children must be accompanied by an adult companion.
Registration is required. You can register beginning one week before each program. For more information and to register, call our Visitors Services Desk at 518-580-8080.
We welcome visitors of all abilities! Be prepared to get messy and have fun!
