Tom Yoshikami

Tom Yoshikami joined the Tang in January 2017 as the Museum Educator for College and Public Programs and began his role as the Assistant Director for Engagement in September 2018. He works with the Tang’s Engagement team as well as faculty and student groups to organize public programs and outreach events. Yoshikami oversees the Tang’s Student Advisory Council as well as the volunteer Tang Guides Program. He organizes the Tang’s popular Upbeat on the Roof summer concert series and co-founded and co-organizes the Whole Grain — Experiments in Film and Video series.

Prior to joining the Tang, he curated films for the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, the University of Wisconsin Cinematheque, the Wisconsin Film Festival, and the Tales for Planet Earth Environmental Film Festival. At UW-Madison, he taught classes and advised several student groups who ran a campus movie theater, curated and maintained five art gallery spaces, and organized a marquee lecture series. He completed his MA and PhD coursework in film studies at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, where his research focused on film culture and the history of art house film exhibition.
